Inspiration: Blunch, Boston

There is a sweet, hidden breakfast and lunch spot in Boston’s South End called Blunch. Tucked into a corner storefront on Harrison Street, Blunch is the favorite haunt of two of my dearest friends.They go almost every weekend when they are in town and have become good friends with Blunch’s chef/owner Nikki. I would be surprised if there aren’t new additions to the menu named after them soon.

If you are looking for a place to get good food on the weekends, Blunch is the way to go. I went recently with a few friends. It was a bagel sandwich kind of a day. Most ordered the luxe lox, loaded with fresh veggies. I enjoyed an egg sandwich with housemade roasted tomatoes. The sandwich was so delicious, it inspired me to add roasted tomatoes to all sorts of dishes – salads, sandwiches, etc. I’d also like to try my hand at baking bagels at home – someday.

If you find yourself in Boston’s South End, make sure to stop in at Blunch for a treat. There is limited seating but good food abounds; there are plenty of parks nearby where you can enjoy your meal if the weather is nice. Just make sure to save room for a chocolate chip cookie. Nikki’s cookies are the most decadent, delicious take on this classic cookie. Blunch’s chocolate chip cookies are so good, my friends had a tower of them for their wedding cake!
