Dolce: Nectarine Galette

IMG_4130

What are you doing to celebrate the Fourth of July this weekend? In need of a quick summer dessert to bring to a barbecue or picnic? Look no further than this four ingredient wonder, inspired by a recent share from Real Simple. This galette features white nectarines {my favorite of the stone fruits}, but you could use plums or peaches or apricots – whichever your heart desires. From start to finish, this won’t take you more than an hour.

While this is really easy to make {especially with ready-made pie crust}, the end results tastes amazing. I swapped brown sugar in for regular in the original recipe. If you are feeling adventurous, you could even mix in a few spices. I think cardamom or cinnamon would both pair nicely with the nectarines.

I served this up warm alongside a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Enjoy the holiday!  –jacque

Ingredients

1 ready-made pie crust

3 nectarines, sliced thinly

3 tablespoons brown sugar

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cubed

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

2. Roll pie crust out on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

3. Top pie crust with sliced nectarines, leaving a 2-inch border empty along the edge.

4. Sprinkle nectarines with two of the three tablespoons of sugar and butter cubes.

5. Fold the edges of the pie crust up and around the filling.

6. Brush the dough with water and sprinkle with remaining sugar.

7. Bake for 35-40 minutes until the crust browns.
